2 days Toubkal weekend challenging Trek
A challenging trek for school groups expeditions in Morocco, climb Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa a weekend.
Toubkal weekend challenging Trek 2 days / 2 nights
Day 1 (Friday) :Marrakech – Imlil valley (1775m) High Atlas Mountains .
Pick up from Marrakech on Friday evening and head out towards Imlil valley at the heart of Toubkal massif High Atlas Mountains. Overnight at the Riad Jnane Imlil.
Day 2 (Saturday): Imlil valley (1775m) – Chamharouch (2500m) – Toubkal Hut (3207m).
After breakfast, start your challenging trek adventure and walk via Aroumd Berber village and sidi Chamharocuh shrine following a mule path overlooking the amazing gorges & streams, carry on up to Toubkal basecampn, lunch & short breaks on the way up. Overnight at Toubkal Hut (dormitories, bunk beds), fire place & hot shower available at the Hut.
Day 3 (Sunday): Toubkal basecamp (3207m) – Toubkal summit (4167m).
After an early breakfast around 4am, start the Ascent up to the top of North Africa, Mount Toubkal (4167m), walk up through a steep zigzaging path step by step on a slow pace and frequent stops to breath and have some nuts & water, our professional guides will advise how to walk and save energy in order to be able to resist, the rhythm stays the same until Tizi n’Toubkal where you will have the 1st overview of southest side of the western High Atlas Mountains, continue of the Mountains ride while enjoying the views and sunshine on the top of the surrounding peaks, arrival to Toubkal summit plateau a few minutes and you will be at the highest point of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, celebrating the success Ascent and admire the unfortgetable views over the Berber valleys & the most of the Atlas Mountains range.
After 45min, trek down back to the basecamp for lunch and then walk all the way back to Imlil and then transfer to Marrakech (Hotel / Train station).
What about if you get tired or get altitude sickness on the way up to the summit ?
There’s always an assistant guide to bring you back to the hut or provide necessary treatment in case of altitude sickness with the possibility of evacuation back to Imlil valley.
What about if you have no experience or trek up above 2500m ?
We have alternative treks around Imlil to acclimatize & train, in this case you should have an extra day prior to the above trek (exp coming on Friday morning from Marrakech).
